Nitin Tandon

Nitin Tandon is Professor in the Vivian L Smith Department of Neurosurgery at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston Texas. He is VP for Neurosciences Strategy and Development, co-director of the Texas Institute of Restorative Neurotechnologies and also directs Epilepsy Surgery at the Texas Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. He also holds a joint appointment as a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University. 

Dr Tandon’s practice includes the surgical treatment of epilepsy, brain tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, radiosurgery and general neurosurgery. He has pioneered innovative technologies including robotic stereo-electroencephalography, laser interstitial ablation and other minimally invasive approaches to brain tumors and epilepsy. He has a particular interest in functional mapping and preservation during cortical resections. His research work is aligned with his clinical practice and is focused on the study of language and epilepsy via intracranial recordings and cortical stimulation. He has been the recipient of multiple NIH and NSF grants over the years and was awarded a STARS award by the State of Texas. He has authored over 140 peer reviewed publications and has an H index of greater than 40.
